New Rafting Vacations in Chile!

The wild whitewater of Patagonia is now available for exploration by kayakers and rafters.

The perfect trip for the Class III whitewater paddler, our "Ring of Fire" itinerary showcases clear whitewater rivers in the Chilean Lake District with idyllic vistas showcasing snow capped peaks and smoking volcanoes.

We'll spend two at Lake Villarica, near Pucon, warming up on the Lilcura and Trancura Rivers. Then we'll head south to the Seven Lakes area and paddle the Fuy River and its three excellent sections of whitewater. Each evening, we'll paddle to our takeout and sip pisco sours in the shadow of the Choshuenco Volcano. We'll relax on the lake beach before settling into our waterfront cabins for the night. We'll spend several days here on the shores of Lake Panguipulli before finishing our trip on the welcoming waters of the San Pedro River. One of our favorite Chilean Rivers, the high-volume San Pedro flows over white lava formations and has so many good playspots, we'll need two days to catch them all. We'll arrive back in Pucon with enough time for last-minute souvenir shopping or one more walk on the picturesque black sand beach.

I thought the "Ring of Fire" was a fabulous trip. Obviously the setting and the paddling were excellent. The fact that the group -guests and leaders - all got along so well definitely made it a first-rate trip. I think it was also significant that Jon really enjoys and respects Chile. As an ethnographer/fieldworker I appreciate this attitude. - Whitney Sanford
