The Rescue 3 International Whitewater Rescue Technician (WRT) courses are internationally recognized with a 3-year certification. NOC offers two different levels of certification for WRT depending on the type of paddling you do.
The WRT Recreational course is for recreational paddlers, river enthusiasts, and non-profit organizations that spend time on moving water. It provides vital training that assimilates the use of basic river gear, skills, and knowledge to build confidence in the latest techniques in swiftwater rescue. The focus is on water hazard identification, rescue planning, and executing rescues of self and others.
The WRT Pro has been designed for guides and river professionals along with recreational paddlers who want to take their training to the next level. It is fast-paced and physically demanding. Students will develop quick reaction times and learn to recognize available options and resources. Students’ abilities to assist team rescue scenarios, practice basic rope skills, stabilize and evacuate victims, boat-based rescues, and swimming in whitewater will be evaluated. The course also features a night-ops training exercise and focuses heavily on hands-on scenarios.
