Field Trips & Outdoor Education

Experiential Learning, Fun, and Adventure

NOC has over 40 years of experience facilitating group adventures. Whether your focus is leadership, team building, environmental education, or just fun, NOC has a variety of group packages available to fit the needs and goals of your school group.

Skills for the Next Generation of Leaders

We focus on key themes to enhance your team individually and interpersonally. Leadership, Outdoor Education, and High Adventure skills will set your group on track for success. Excellent places to learn these skills are our Tree Climbing activities and on our Alpine Tower. Taking education outside promotes active learning and confidence while developing leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. More importantly, Outdoor and Adventure Education creates a community atmosphere that students are proud to be part of. Let Nantahala Outdoor Center help facilitate this experience for your students!

Student Outcomes

Environmental Literacy: Understand society’s impact on the great outdoors. Teach students how to be good stewards of public lands.
Communication and Collaboration: Work effectively in teams, make necessary compromises, and exhibit a willingness to be helpful.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Adapt to various roles, deal with praise, setbacks and criticism; and balance inputs to reach workable solutions.
Leadership and Responsibility: Use interpersonal skills to guide others toward a goal and inspire others to do their best.
