Overview

Hop aboard the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in Bryson City, NC for a scenic train ride through the Smokies. You’ll enjoy views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and sparkling mountain streams, including highlights like the Horseshoe Curve, Fontana Lake Trestle (a 100ft high trestle bridge that spans 780 ft across the lake), Little Tennessee River and the Nantahala River Gorge.

A guest trip favorite, The Nantahala Gorge Excursion, spends an hour layover at Nantahala Outdoor Center where guests can shop, dine at either of our two riverfront restaurants, or just enjoy the views of the Nantahala River, even stick your feet in!

Add some whitewater adventure to the ride with NOC’s Rapid Transit trip: a Nantahala Gorge Excursion packaged with lunch and a fully-guided whitewater rafting trip on the exciting Nantahala River. Transportation back to Bryson City included.

Enjoy riverside dining at one of our two locations conveniently located right on campus. River’s End Restaurant offers American-style cuisine with pizza, sandwiches, salads and more. Big Wesser features quick Southern fare like burgers and barbeque. Both have a great selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.

Additional snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the Outfitter’s Store or the General Store.
