Week of Rivers at NOC: Free Shuttles, Boat Staging, and Ladies’ Night
Each summer, Carolina Canoe Club’s Week of Rivers brings paddlers to Western North Carolina. For many, the Nantahala National Forest becomes home base for the week. Boats line up and river plans take shape each morning. Nantahala Outdoor Center is glad to welcome CCC paddlers back to our area and to the Nantahala River.
This year, NOC will offer free shuttle options for CCC participants. We will also host Not Your Average Ladies Night, sponsored by Kari Traa.
Here is what paddlers should know:
Free Shuttle Options for CCC Participants
NOC will offer free body shuttles for Carolina Canoe Club participants. These may be available on NOC rental and guided trip buses. Space will be limited and offered as available. Free paddler (no boat) shuttles will begin at 1:00 PM each day. This timing helps CCC paddlers park at the river put in access. It also helps reduce traffic in main guest parking areas. NOC will also run two afternoon shuttle times with a van and cargo trailer.
These shuttles will run between about 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM on select dates:
- June 28th
- July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th
Please check with NOC staff when you arrive.
Parking and Boat Staging at NOC
CCC paddlers should plan to park near the Beechertown Access put-in when possible. At NOC two loading-zone spaces will be marked in the Adventure Center parking lot. These are the last two paved spaces on the right-hand side. CCC participants should stage boats on the beach near the boater cross ramp.
Join Us for Not Your Average Ladies Night
Week of Rivers is about more than paddling. It is also about community, stories, and time together off the river. Join us for Not Your Average Ladies Night, sponsored by Kari Traa. This NOC retail event is for women and those who identify with women.
Expect light bites, Fruit Smashes from New Belgium, event-only shopping discounts, and outdoor-themed Singo Music Bingo.
