Join us for Happy Hiker Day at the NOC Outfitter’s Store to celebrate our love for hiking! At the intersection of the Appalachian Trail and the Nantahala River, we are proud to be a respite and guide for thru-hikers, day hikers, and anyone that wants to get out on the trail! Enjoy a free guided local hike, store deals, hiker snack and food samples, participate in a pack shakedown, Thru Hiker discussion, movie night, and more!   

Big Agnes Giveaway  

Win big at Happy Hiker Day! Our Partners at Big Agnes are graciously donating a large item for an in-store giveaway. Big Agnes is a leader in outdoor gear such as tents, sleeping bags, apparel, and more! 

Free Hiker Detergent, Pack Shakedowns, and Nikwax Treatments | 9am-5pm 

If you’re stopping thru on your hike, we will provide you with a free laundry detergent pod to use at our facilities along with pack shakedowns and Nikwax Treatments! Laundry pods will be available for pick up at the Outfitter’s Store register and our laundry facilities are located next to the General Store (across the street from the Outfitter’s Store). Pack shakedowns will be upstairs at the Outfitter’s Store, where you can unload your gear and reorganize. After your pack shake down take your gear to the back porch of the Outfitter’s Store to treat your gear to a free Nikwax treatment. Refresh, repack, and reset with NOC! 

Guided Hike on the AT | 11am 

Join us on the Appalachian Trail for a mini hike to the Rufus Morgan Shelter. Please make sure to come early as the spots are limited to 10 hikers. 

Betsy’s Back Country Buffet | 12pm 

Come try out the best hiking food there is to offer for free! Thanks to our partners at Good-To-Go, Peak Refuel, Mountain House, and Backpackers Pantry we are happy to offer a free sample buffet for current and future hikers of the AT. 

Thru-Hiker Q&A with NOC’s Betsy Bevis | 3pm-4pm 

Learn from NOC’s own Thru-Hiker Betsy Bevis at the upstairs of the Outfitter’s Store! 

Hiker Movie Night | 5:15pm-7pm 

Relax and enjoy a free movie night upstairs at the Outfitter’s Store.
