Nantahala Racing Club (NRC), a non-profit partner of NOC based in the Nantahala Gorge, has a chance to win $25,000 through The North Face’s Explore Fund.

NRC’s Young Rhinos Whitewater Discovery project gives underserved youth in rural Appalachia a chance to reconnect with and explore the rivers right in their background by providing instruction, equipment and transportation. NRC’s family-oriented events and programs encourage active engagement in the outdoors as a healthy option for kids and their families, with the long-term goal of creating life-long appreciation for whitewater sport and the outdoors.

NRC enjoys strong support within the local community. Business partners such as NOC support NRC youth programs by providing staff and equipment, and the Snowbird Recreation Department provides transportation for local students. Member support currently provides the majority of NRC’s operations budget, and $25,000 from the Explore Fund would allow NRC to expand their outreach and provide equipment, transportation and instruction to introduce more kids to whitewater and the outdoors.

You can make a difference by using Facebook to vote for NRC! Everyone over age 13 can vote once a day until July 18th.
