Flint Ridge Guided Mountain Biking
Experience fun trails and scenic overlooks with a guided mountain biking tour on Flint Ridge located right on our main campus!
The Flint Ridge trails were built for mountain bikers! This area offers an extensive trail system great for mountain biking that is suitable for both beginners and advanced riders to enjoy and is conveniently located right on our 500-acre campus.
Join our experienced guides for a mountain bike tour bordering local Lake Fontana that offers sweeping views of the Nantahala Outdoor Center’s main campus built into the side of the Nantahala Gorge, situated at the base of the Smoky Mountains. Guests will experience fun trails with dense hardwoods, switchbacks and some steep terrain but rewarding riders with some nice faster downhill sloping after.
The Flint Ridge trails are considered beginner to advanced but we recommend having some mountain biking experience. Our guides will review with some basic instruction and tips before the trip begins, then will guide your trip while sharing some information about the recreation area and landscape.
Other experience levels can choose to try out more extensive mountain biking trails through our guided trips on our Tsali Trails just a short shuttle from campus.

- Flint Ridge trails are located right on NOC’s main campus with convenience access to adventure, dining, shopping, and lodging.
What to Expect
After checking in at the Adventure Center Deck, riders will be fitted onsite by NOC bike guides with bikes and gear. Guides will review the basics of mountain biking before beginning the trail ride. Total trip time is approximately three hours.
NOC provides the following:
- Equipment fittings with mountain bike rental and helmet
- Transportation shuttles to and from trails
- USFS Fees
Guests are welcome to bring their own bikes*, please ensure they are in good working order.
*There is no discount for guests that bring personal bikes or equipment.
Guests will need to wear sturdy shoes like sneakers that will stay on securely during the trip. No sandals, water shoes, Crocs, Tevas, Keens, or Chacos are allowed. Wear comfortable athletic clothing, and bring a rain jacket. Please bring 1-2 water bottles or camelbaks and additional snacks as needed.
All participants must be able to ride a bike, some mountain biking experience recommended. If under the age of 18, an adult must be present on the trip. Guests must be a minimum height of 4’11” and maximum of 6’4″ to fit on the bikes.
Enjoy riverside dining at one of our two locations conveniently located right on campus. River’s End Restaurant offers American-style cuisine with pizza, sandwiches, salads and more. Big Wesser features quick Southern fare like burgers and barbeque. Both have a great selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.
Additional snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the Outfitter’s Store or the General Store.
