Johnny come to NOC fresh after completing his college degree in Ecotourism and Adventure Travel when a good friend convinced him to come and see what life as a river guide was all about. He was hooked from the get-go and has now been with Nantahala Outdoor Center for 10 years! Johnny, or less formerly known as “Johnny Long” to the NOC family, is a Dive Master, Wilderness First Responder, and has tackled three trips to row the Grand Canyon. His favorite Southeastern River is the Nolichucky.

Johnny gets his love of the outdoors honestly; having spent many fond trips with his father hunting and fishing in his younger years you can still catch him enjoying these hobbies today. During the winter, you can catch him living his motto “can’t stop, won’t stop” on the slopes in Idaho, working on dive boats in the Caribbean, or taking on construction and carpentry projects.
