Overview

Experience the peace and serenity of the Chattahoochee River with an inflatable kayak. Also called duckies, these river crafts are designed with whitewater in mind, maneuvering similar to a combination of a raft and traditional kayak. Stable yet more forgiving than regular kayaks, they are less prone to capsize which also makes them kid-friendly.

NOC is the only Atlanta river outfitter offering these fun, accessible boats. Splash, float, and paddle down the river with full control of your trip making it easy to customize your experience: stay dry and explore every nook and cranny of the riverbank, or have an intense workout through splashing waves. It’s your choice.

Two types of inflatable kayaks rentals are available: the one-person model or the two-person where you’ll get to share paddling, navigating (and a little team building) with your partner.

NOC’s riverside Atlanta outposts are located in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area at Johnson Ferry and Powers Island. Inflatable kayaks, or duckies, are available at the Powers Island location.

**Powers Island river access is temporarily closed until May 2023.

  • The Chattahoochee River offers a great escape with its lush wooded banks and mild currents.
  • NOC Metro Atlanta Outpost is conveniently located in Sandy Springs in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

What to Expect

NOC ducky trips will take approximately 3 – 5 hours total with 2 – 4 hours spent on the river. The remaining time will be spent in trip preparation and shuttle from the take-out at Paces Mill.

Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your reservation at NOC’s Metro Atlanta Outpost in Sandy Springs to allow time for parking and check-in. NOC guides will help guests get fitted for gear and can offer any instruction and tips on paddling before you head out on the shuttle to the put-in at Paces Mill. From there, your group can paddle or float downriver enjoying the scenic views and mild currents.
