Southeastern Explorer Overnight Camp
Atlanta area teens can experience some of the best rafting in the southeast in this all-inclusive overnight summer camp complete with lodging, meals, guided adventures. Raft the Chattooga, Ocoee, and Nantahala Rivers in three, action packed days!
Overview
Embark on an unforgettable three-day, all-inclusive travel camp designed for teens who crave adventure! Based at NOC’s main river campus in scenic Bryson City, NC, this program offers the ultimate Southeastern river experience. Participants will explore some of the best rivers in the region while building paddling skills, learning about river ecology, and creating lifelong memories.
Led by NOC’s experienced guides, campers will enjoy high-quality instruction, exciting whitewater adventures, and valuable environmental knowledge. With meals, transportation, and lodging included, parents can relax knowing everything is taken care of. This is the perfect opportunity for teens to unplug, build confidence, and discover the thrill of the outdoors!
Rivers You’ll Explore:
Section IV – Chattooga River
Flowing between Georgia and South Carolina, the Chattooga offers breathtaking wilderness and technical rapids. This scenic adventure immerses campers in untouched nature, sparking a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.
Nantahala River
NOC’s home river delivers the classic rafting experience with splashy Class I and II rapids leading to an exciting Class III finish. Campers will paddle right back to the heart of NOC’s campus, where the fun continues.
Middle Section – Ocoee River
Known as the “Ocoee Coaster,” this stretch is packed with non-stop action. Campers will navigate exhilarating rapids that promise big splashes and even bigger smiles!
What To Expect
Participants will travel to South Carolina, North Carolina, and Eastern Tennessee to raft the Chattooga, Nantahala and Ocoee rivers. Campers will spend both nights on NOC’s main campus on the Nantahala River. This camp entails some travel, days on the river with exposure to outdoor elements, and sleeping in bunkhouses. Meals will be provided from lunch on Monday to lunch on Wednesday afternoon.
Example Itinerary

*Itineraries are subject to change, but here is an example of a typical camp week:
- Monday: Check in at Powers Island at 8AM. Campers will be transported to South Carolina to raft the Chattooga River, Section IV before heading to Bryson City for the night.
- Tuesday: Campers will spend the day exploring Bryson City and the Nantahala River.
- Wednesday: Campers will head from Bryson City to the Ocoee River for their last river adventure of the camp. Campers will return to Powers Island at 5:30PM for check out.

Before You Visit

All meals are provided from lunch on Monday of arrival to lunch on Wednesday before returning home. Additional snacks and drinks are available for purchase at NOC outposts or at the General Store in Bryson City on the NOC main campus.
