Overview

New to paddling? This introductory course is perfect for first-timers looking to gain confidence on the water. Whether you’re trying kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) for the first time, our experienced NOC guides will walk you through the basics in a calm, flatwater environment to enjoy the area lakes and rivers.

Choose from:

  • Sit-on-top single kayaks (standard)

  • Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP)

All boats are nonskirted and designed for stability and comfort—ideal for beginners.

What to Expect

Our experienced guides will teach essential paddling techniques, including how to properly sit in a kayak and safely enter and exit from both docks and shorelines. You’ll be accompanied on the water as you paddle 2.5 miles down the scenic Chattahoochee River. Along the way, guides will offer tips for avoiding common river hazards and share insights into how the river system functions in coordination with local dams. All equipment including personal flotation devices, boats, and paddles are included.

Participants must be 10+ years of age and capable of walking on flat mixed surfaces for 200 yards to and from the river access. Participants must be willing and able to carry equipment, kayak, paddles, and any personal equipment to river access points. Guides are available to help move equipment for those that require assistance. If participant wishes to explore surrounding river area, walking on rocky, wet, slippery, or varied surfaces will be required. Please wear a personal flotation device at all times while on the water.

Participants must meet age, weight, and chest size minimums and maximums specific to this trip. Please read our General Participant Eligibility & Recommendations for more information.
