John Ortt is a seasoned Master Guide and River Outpost Manager with 19 years of experience, providing unparalleled outdoor adventure experiences at NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center). A native of Melbourne, Florida, John is well-acquainted with numerous rivers, including his home river, Pigeon. His passion for the outdoors is rooted in his love for kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, skiing, and snowboarding.
An Eagle Scout, John initially joined NOC to work outside and maintain his physical fitness. However, the vibrant community and the diverse locales he gets to explore have kept him here. One of his favorite activities at NOC is white water paddling, which aligns perfectly with his famous quote, “A man of wisdom delights in water.”
