At NOC we love all moms! We have guide moms, business moms, moms with years of experience, and brand-new moms. We want to thank our past and current NOC moms for giving all that you do for us and the next generations!

Brooke Hart

How long have you been a Mom?  15 years

What’s your favorite part about being a mom? I love the dinner conversations with my kiddos just as much as the fun adventures we have been on throughout the years.  Seeing them grow into their own individual personality has been awesome to watch, and when they are genuinely happy and smiling about their day/week is probably the absolute best part of parenting.

What’s your ideal Mother’s Day?  Without a doubt, going on an adventure outdoors – preferably fishing, we also enjoy camping, hiking, and kayaking as a family, so a weekend doing all of those would be the most ideal.

How has working at NOC influenced how you raise your children?  As with many jobs, no matter the company, we can sometimes get caught up in the endless number of tasks, emails, stress, etc. within our job.  Luckily at NOC, I am surrounded by managers and peers that help remind me of the importance of having a work/life balance.

Halloween is our favorite as a family. We’ve done a theme each year since my son’s first Halloween. You get tons more candy as a parent if you dress up with your kiddos! 😊

How long have you been a Mom? My firstborn just turned 41!

What’s your favorite part about being a mom? I’m pretty sure raising two productive wonderful children is the greatest achievement of my life and it will never get better than that.

What’s your ideal Mother’s Day? Usually spent on the river someplace and to be just perfect the evening gets spent with family

How has working at NOC influenced how you raise your child/children? My children were born in NOC staff housing at Hellards and 3 generations of our family have worked together here at times so it’s pretty much been our life in so many ways. One thing I do love about our community is the way we mix across age groups. I have paddling buddies who are kids or in their late teens to early twenties and I have biking buddies pushing 90. When my son and daughter were 5 or 6 you could hand them a baby at daycare and they knew how to hold it properly or they could spend a day helping Grandpa build a mountain bike trail at Tsali.

How long have you been a Mom? 32 years

What’s your favorite part about being a mom? Absolutely everything. My children have filled my heart with love and my life with joy.

What’s your ideal Mother’s Day? A day outdoors, of course! Biking or hiking followed by a family dinner- pasta and a lemon drop martini!

How has working at NOC influenced how you raise your children? Working remotely for NOC since 2012 has allowed me more time to be the Mom I wanted to be and the one they needed.

How long have you been a Mom? 4+ years

What’s your favorite part about being a mom? Watching my son learn and grow into a kind, funny, adventurous little earthling.

What’s your ideal Mother’s Day? Homemade breakfast and coffee, a local Asheville hike with my tribe, spend some time in the garden and end it with a cold beer at a local brewery.

How has working at NOC influenced how you raise your child/children? It taught me how important sharing love and connection to the outdoors is for us and our children and teaching them how to protect our natural resources for future generations to enjoy and recreate.

How long have you been a Mom? 12 years.

What’s your favorite part about being a mom? Watching my kids grow into their own personalities and who they will be as they grow up. They both inspire me to be a better person and remind me that it is important to see things through their eyes and that their perspective is important.

What’s your ideal Mother’s Day? Brunch and then an afternoon of fun outside with the family.

How has working at NOC influenced how you raise your child/children?  Introducing them into the outdoors at a young age. From mountain biking to kayaking & rafting to hiking, they love being outside and love the challenge of learning and doing new things.

We also want to our honor our NOC Founding Mothers, Aurelia Kennedy & Jody Holden. Their compassion, caring, and mothering spread far beyond their own children and helped shape NOC into a place where all children, young and old, are welcome.

“A mother’s happiness is like a beacon, lighting up the future but reflected also on the past in the guise of fond memories.”
