Day 1: Arrival in Chattanooga, TN & Riverfront Exploration 

Easy miles, good food, and a feel for the city vibe.

Morning: Arrival & Check-In

Check into The Chattanoogan Hotel, centrally located for easy access to downtown and the riverfront. Once you’re settled, grab a coffee at Goodman Expert Coffee Roasters nearby and take your time easing into the day

Afternoon: Explore the Riverfront 

Chattanooga, TN is a city that moves at a comfortable pace and the best way to see it is on two wheels. 

  • Rent a city bike and cruise across the Walnut Street Bridge, one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the country.  
  • Take your time along the riverwalk, this stretch is made for wandering, not rushing. Purse the shops, art installations and people watch! 

Looking to get on the water right away? 

  • Rent a paddleboard and head out onto the Tennessee River, TN for a relaxed, flatwater session with skyline views.

Evening: Slow It Down 

  • Head to Riverfront Park with a blanket or towel and find a spot along the water.

Day 2: Whitewater Rafting on the Ocoee River, TN

A full day on one of the Southeast’s most popular whitewater runs.

Morning: Head to the Ocoee 

Plan for an early start and drive from Chattanooga to the Ocoee River (~45–60 minutes depending on your route). With an outfitter right inside, you can gear up before you hit the river or grab some memorabilia after your trip.

Before you arrive, grab breakfast and coffee at a local favorite like Ocoee Coffee Joint, Yellowbird Coffee Shop, or Bakery on Main if you’re coming through Benton. You’ll need fuel for a full day on the river.

Day 3: Choose Your Pace! Take a Hike or Lounge with a Lake Day.

One last day to stretch it out or stay on the water.

Option 1: Hike the Ocoee Corridor 

Not quite ready to leave the mountains? Start at the Hiwassee/Ocoee State Park Visitor Center for a quick overview of the area, which is worth it for the context and history.  

  • Hike to Gee Creek Falls  
    • ~2.5 miles roundtrip  
    • Moderate, approachable trail  
    • Multiple waterfalls and a swimming hole less than a mile in. 

It’s the kind of hike that feels rewarding without taking up your whole day with lush forest, cool air, and plenty of places to pause along the way.

Option 2: Lake Day at Parksville Lake 

Prefer to stay on the water? Head to Parksville Lake (Lake Ocoee).  

  • Rent a boat, paddleboard, or inflatable kayak from the marina or nearby outfitters. The pace here is slower with wide open water, mountain views, and time to explore at your own speed.
